Mexico Affiliate
Ever conscious that their kind of leadership is a powerful tool for building resiliency
in individuals and communities, FLA participants have taken the program to their former
homeland. Today FLA has an affiliate in three Mexico cities, and is a registered non-profit
with its own Board of Directors. This group blossomed through the hard work of college
students who participated in the first Washington DC conference sponsored by FLA in 1992.
Today, these FLAers in Mexico raise their own funds to implement the FLA Leadership Camp
and Enrichment Workshops every year. The affiliate is run by a national committee and nine
sub-committees organized according to career of interest. FLA professionals in Mexico mentor
young high school and college students in the democratic process, community service, and
social justice for the Mexican people.
